Barcelona came from two goals down to beat Atletico Madrid 4-2 to go top of La Liga. Robert Lewandowski was the hero of the match at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Sunday night. Although they were a little uncomfortable in the first half due to Atletico’s dominance, Barca turned the tide of the match in the second half with a brilliant performance. The hosts took a 2-0 lead through goals from Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sorloth in the 45th and 70th minutes. However, Barcelona saw a glimmer of hope when Lewandowski scored in the 72nd minute. Then Ferran Torres equalized in the 78th minute.
Youngster Lamine Yamal gave Barca the lead in the second minute of added time. Barca secured a 4-2 victory with Ferran’s second individual goal in the last minute.

The win took the Catalans to the top of the table with 60 points from 27 matches. Despite having the same number of points, Real Madrid are second on head-to-head and goal difference. Atletico’s chances of winning the title have become much slimmer with two consecutive losses.
On the other hand, Barcelona are unbeaten in 18 consecutive matches in all competitions (15 wins, 3 draws). This is coach Hansi Flick’s first win against Atletico.
After the international break, Barcelona will take on Girona on March 30. Atletico will face Espanyol on March 29. Then, the two teams will face each other in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final on April 2.
